Holly Champion: Learning for Life

BEST Buddies Programme
Design & Development
This section focuses on the multimedia e-Learning for module 1: Defining Your Goal.

The following numbering convention is used throughout:

In this numbering convention: •The course is identified by an acronym of the working title: BEST Buddies Programme = BBP •The module is identified by a 2-digit number from 00 to 99, where module 00 is an introductory module that does not form part of the core course content (where there is no such module, the numbering will start at 01) •The content is identified as core (C) or supplementary (S) •The lesson is identified by a 2-digit number from 00 to 99, where lesson 00 is an introduction to the module that does not form part of the core course content (where there is no such lesson, the numbering will start at 01) •The sub-topic is identified by a 2-digit number from 01 to 99. Where this reference is not relevant, it is shown as -. •The content block is identified by a 3-digit number from 001 to 999. Where this reference is not relevant, it is shown as -. Where that content block was created in another programme: oThe authoring tool is identified by a 2-letter code: AS = Articulate Storyline CT = Camtasia CV = Canva ME = Microsoft Excel MP = Microsoft PowerPoint MW = Microsoft Word oThe content block screen is identified by a 3-digit number from 001 to 999. The reference shown above refers to core content that is the first content block of the first (or only) sub-topic of the first (or only) lesson of the first (or only) module of the BEST Buddies programme, which was built in Articulate Storyline. The reference will include only what is necessary to identify the course part. For example, the reference for module 1 would be BBP.01, the core content of the third lesson of module 1 would be referenced as BBP.01.C.03, a handout created in Canva that the learner can choose to download from the 5th content block of the third lesson of module 1 would be referenced as BBP.01.S.03.01.005.CV.001

Wireframe
This Wireframe makes the following assumptions based on business requirements and preferences:

-
The e-Learning shell will be built in Articulate Rise. This is the preferred e-Learning tool within the business as it provides a consistent approach for learners across the business. Feedback from learners has confirmed that the "web page" format is preferred to the "slide show" format, as it is "cleaner", "more consistent" and "navigation does not have to be relearned for every CBT".
-
Content within the shell may be built using other tools (e.g. Camtasia, Storyline, PowerPoint, etc.) as long as the finished result is presented to the learner within a seamless Articulate Rise shell.
-
Graded assessments must be built directly into the LMS so that the learner's competence record can be automatically updated with the result (this requirement is linked to reporting requirements). Where applicable, coursework will be uploaded to the LMS by the learner for grading and inclusion in their competence record.
-
Each module must include the "Log your learning" section, based on the template, which includes:
-
Credits
-
Feedback prompt
-
CPD logging prompt
-
Estimated time to complete the module: 60 minutes (NB – this estimate may be revised following learner experience testing).
BBP.01.C.00 - Introduction
-
Welcomes learners onto the module
-
Outlines benefits to the learner and learning outcomes
-
Outlines what learners will experience
BBP.01.C.01 - Why?
-
Content showing how understanding the reasons behind the steps in the process will help learners carry out the process more accurately.
-
Content encouraging the learner to consider why their learners need each piece of content within the course.
BBP.01.C.02 - What is SMART?
-
Content breaking down SMART into the constituent parts to demonstrate to the learner how this can be used to develop clear and achievable goals.
-
Exercises allowing learners to apply the SMART principles
BBP.01.C.03 - Make it SMART
-
Content and tools to help learners identify what needs to be taught, what needs to be sign-posted and what is not needed.
BBP.01.C.04 - Module Summary ("Content Complete")
-
Presents key takeaways from the module
BBP.01.C.05 - Assessment
-
Multiple choice quiz to check recall of topics covered
BBP.01.C.06 - Call to action
-
Outlines next steps for learner, including prompt for assessed coursework.
BBP.01.C.07 - Did you know?
-
Standard template crediting vocal talents and allowing learners to sign up to be involved in future projects.
BBP.01.C.08 - You said. We did
-
Standard template listing some of the feedback that was used to build the module and encouraging the learner to provide anonymous feedback.
BBP.01.C.09 - Log your learning
-
Standard template reminding learners of the learning outcomes and prompting them to record their CPD time.
Course branding and structure requirements
The following guidance is bespoke to e-Learning and covers exceptions to the standard rules, which is not included here, but can be found on the company intranet.
Considerations for e-Learning
-
Outside of the exceptions listed here, internally produced content must adhere to the Brand Guidelines listed on the intranet: Working here>For work>Brand guidelines & templates

-
Wherever possible, graphics (including pre-recorded video) and sound effects should be sourced from Aegon’s media store, Microsoft’s stock image library or Articulate’s stock image library. Where suitable media cannot be sourced from these locations, they may be sourced from sites such as pixabay.com provided that:
-
The media used are royalty-free
-
The media author is credited
-

-
Screen snips may be used, provided that information that could be used to identify the customer has been obscured

-
As the preferred brand font (Arial) is not available within Articulate Rise (and a font file is not available), Lato must be used for both heading and body text within this application.

-
Body text must be black regular font. Emphasised body text must be in one of the approved accent colours and bold font. Font size is not specified, instead it must be large enough for the average person to comfortably read it on a laptop screen with the application set to full screen and the screen resolution set to 100%. In most cases, a font size of between 14 and 18 will be suitable. Font size for body text must remain consistent throughout the course.

-
Where body text is presented over a coloured background, the font may be changed to white regular/bold font to improve readability.

Articulate Storyline slide templates
Built in Storyline templates may be used, as long as they are formatted in line with company brand guidelines.

Bespoke screens may be created as long as they are formatted in line with company brand guidelines.

The following templates are for commonly used Storyline screens.
Video templates
Internally produced videos must be based on the current PowerPoint template located on the company intranet. There are no e-Learning specific variations to this.
Prototype
This prototype of module 1 has been produced to allow stakeholders to get an idea of what the finished project will look and behave like. It is not the finished product and does not contain all of the content.

Place holder images have been inserted in place of content that has not been built into the prototype. See the storyboard for details of this content.

Temporary AI-generated voiceovers have been added to the videos. These will be replaced with properly recorded audio in the finished product and are included here to provide a more realistic impression of the finished product.
The following blocks have been built for this prototype: •Introduction oBBP.01.C.00.01.001 oBBP.01.C.00.01.002 •What is SMART? oBBP.01.C002.01.001 oBBP.01.C002.01.002 oBBP.01.C002.01.003 oBBP.01.C002.01.004 oBBP.01.C002.01.005 oBBP.01.C002.02.001 oBBP.01.C002.02.002 oBBP.01.C002.02.003 oBBP.01.C002.07.001 oBBP.01.C002.07.002 oBBP.01.C002.07.003 oBBP.01.C002.07.004 oBBP.01.C002.07.005 oBBP.01.C002.07.006
